We hope this website will provide a flavour of our micropub but please feel free to contact us by any of the means identified above should you require any further information. The best way to understand the micropub concept though is to visit us.
With over 1000 microbreweries in the UK we are constantly looking to source new beers. This means that the beer menu is constantly changing so don’t expect to have the same beer on any two visits! To date we have sourced beers from the Orkneys (802 miles away) to Ripple (3 miles away) in an attempt to provide a diverse range which reflects local ingredients and tradition as well as the brewer’s passion for his/her product.
In addition to the beers we sell ciders from Kentish producers and organic red, white and rosé house wines.
Food is available in the form of locally produced cheese or locally produced crisps and the occasional ‘specials’ such as home-made pickled onions or home-made pork scratching served with a Kentish Sauce made to a 300 year old recipe. Mark and Bronwen Robson

The pub’s name, ‘The Just Reproach’ has been taken from Daniel Defoe’s account of the Great Storm of 1703. Realising the enormity and impact of the Great Storm across the country, Defoe asked for the public to send accounts to him which he would then publish. There is uncertainty as to how many accounts Defoe received and how many he made up but accounts of Deal and its inhabitants were far from flattering! Obviously the town, and its people, have changed significantly in over 300 years!

The philosophy behind a micropub is the rejection of all that the big chains tell us that we want. There will, therefore, be no television, no fruit machines, no juke box, no food, no spirits and no lager. The emphasis will be on good beer from microbreweries (and house wines) and conversation. The beer will be served straight from the cask.
